[ "Lazy Master" was accurate, then. (Mordred may or may not have different standards for what constitutes lazy, given her time as a knight.) Her scowl deepens, and she makes an annoyed noise, looking for all the world like a petulant child. ]

I said wake up, dammit! [ She yanks on the covers, pulling them (and possibly Rin, depending on how bundled up she is) off the bed entirely. Rest in pieces. ]

[Mordred gets the duvet cover, and the rush of cold causes Rin to sit up. Her eyes wince at the light that filters in between the curtains of her bedroom window, and her naturally wavy hair is clearly a mess from having the covers pulled up so high. Rin's restless sleep has it so the top button of her pajamas has come undone, and one side has slipped off the shoulder. Heavily lidded eyes slowly look about the room until they fall on Mordred.]

What? It's so early...

[ With zero sympathy: ] The sun's risen already. We'd be ready to march at this point.

[ King Arthur ran a tight ship, and Mordred followed. When she sees Rin's state, she blushes a little and averts her eyes, but she doesn't relent. ]

Our enemies won't just wait for you to wake up whenever you feel like it.

The War hasn't even begun yet.

[She grumbles through a bout of yawning. Her hands rise to rub the sleep out of her eyes while she hangs her feet over her bed. When they touch the floor she begins to stand — wobbling only slightly because she cannot see.

Eventually she pads her way to her door, and gestures at Mordred.]

Saber, put the duvet back on the bed. Since you removed it, after all.

Stop telling me to do stupid things!

[ She's only mad because she can feel the compulsion to do said stupid things, and it won't go away until she does. So, she grabs the duvet (though not without grumbling), and just... throws it on the bed. Technically, she did what Rin told her to.

A second later, she's trailing behind her Master, scowling all over again. ]

You're still going to make me food, right? [ She doesn't need to eat, but she sure as hell wants to. ]

I'll make us food. Would you like tea?

[She probably won't make her best tea for Mordred, but at least any tea she has in bags will be the higher end kind that leaves room for the leaves to breathe. She may be frugal but tea is important.

But she also happens to bargain buy too.]

[ She frowns, but— ] That will do. Well, I guess you wouldn't have wine or anything.

[ Nevermind that it's 7am and Rin isn't the legal drinking age. #medieval

Though, now that she's asking... ]

Master. Don't you have anything fun in this place? I looked around, but it was all boring. [ Rude. ] I thought maybe you were more interesting than an ordinary mage.

It's my parent's place that I inherited, and I don't have the money to put anything fun in it. Magic is a never ending sinkhole of expenses, and the Tohsaka name isn't as prosperous as it used to be.

[Thanks to a certain Fake Priest who happens to be presiding over this war. Rin sighs, and rests her hand on the railing of the steps to help steady herself as she descends.]

What would you consider "fun," Saber?

Fighting, of course. [ "Of course." ] But this is the modern era, right? You should have all kinds of new things.

[ So to be in an old-fashioned sort of place, while better than anything run-down, is still disappointing. Technology is a thing, Rin, get with the times.

Also, she's concerned about that comment about money. ]

... I hope you're not planning on being a cheapskate with me. I expect to be treated like someone of my station should be, not tolerating a miser of a Master.

Excuse me? I can't help if my legal guardian has squandered and handed off most of my family's sources of income. And to be more than just a useless lump of flesh on the battlefield I require jewels, which tend to me more than just pocket change if they're worth storing mana in.

Saber if you're truly opposed to wearing my mothers things at least inspect my father's wardrobe before I spend my last yen on pants for you.

[It might be difficult to tell, but there's almost a note of pleading in her voice before she hurries down the stairs to get the tea started.]

Ugh. You really are troublesome.

[ ... And yet she stalks her way back down the hall, looking for Tokiomi's things. His clothes are at least more agreeable than dresses, even if they're too stuffy — and anything is probably better than the loincloth and strapping she wears under her armour — but there's a more serious problem.

Still upstairs, she pipes up telepathically at first, over their connection. ]

Are you serious, Master? [ Without actually defining said problem: ] I'm going to come downstairs. Laugh, and I'll use your neck as a sheath.

[ She's dressed in one of Tokiomi's suits when she does come down, and the issue is immediately clear — she looks like a kid wearing her father's clothing. Mordred's even shorter than Rin, which makes Tokiomi almost a foot taller... she's almost swimming in the outfit. Her scowl makes it even funnier. ]

[Rin smiles and holds a hand to her mouth. Rin does not laugh, for her own good, but the amusement is clear on her face. She knew the pants and jacket were going to be much too big, but she was hoping that perhaps the vest would enough.

At least this makes the fact that Mordred held a sword to her throat much easier to swallow.]

You know it's been ten years since I saw my father. It seems I forgot how tall he actually was.

I don't care about your excuses. [ Mordred crosses her arms with a huff. ] Buy me new clothes. I won't stand for looking this ridiculous.

[ Not even just around the house. She goes back upstairs, tossing the clothes on the ground somewhere, and comes back down in what she was wearing before. ]

Is the tea ready yet? [ She's still scowling, though it's not quite as severe now. ]

Oh, it seems your temper is about as short as you are, my treacherous knight! Have patience, it takes a more than a minute to bring water to boil.

[But while they wait for that Rin has already started on breakfast. She's not as extravagant as Sakura can be for Shiro, so they will have to make do with eggs, toast, and small sausage patties. Everything easy and cheap.]

[ ... There are too many things in that sentence she wants to stab Rin for, so she just ends up gawking instead. ]

Do you have a death wish? [ Seriously. Somehow, all the insults cancel each other out. ] Don't call me that. And my height is fine.

[ She's the same height as her 'father' after all (#clonelife), and King Arthur was perfect in every way. She huffs again, and starts trying to inspect the food over Rin's shoulder, which of course means she has to get on her tip-toes. ]

Faster. Oh, and this is all for me, right? [ That's barely even enough of a serving for her, but she'll make do if she has to. What do you mean Rin has to eat as well? ]

[UGH SO NOSY. And all for her? What does she think this is, a diner? Rin swipes a slice of toast covered in apple butter and shoves it into those flapping jaws of Mordred's just to shut her up.]

Go sit down. A watched pot never cooks, Saber.

But it's boring!

[ Said through the toast in her mouth, so it's more rmm ri rorig than anything actually decipherable. She settles for exploring the room instead, even if she's already poked around last night. ]

Why did you summon me if the War hasn't even started? There's no point to just sitting around like this.

There's only one servant left to summon, and I wasn't going to dare let someone else have a chance at summoning a Saber. Also this way I can get to know you and your Noble Phantasm enough to form a strategy. A mage who doesn't think ahead is a dead man walking.

[Rin turns over the sausage patty, and it sizzles in the pan. It's distinct aroma begins to fill the kitchen.]

You summoned me. That's all the thinking ahead you need.

[ Her stomach growls at the smell, sounding impressively loud for her size. Fine, she'll talk strategy if she really has to wait. ]

My helmet stops anyone from reading my skills or anything about my identity. Even you. [ Which is why Rin hadn't been able to see anything until she'd taken it off. ] So, that's one advantage. Of course, I have to take it off to use my other Noble Phantasm.

[The sound makes Rin giggle to herself a bit. When everything is done she collects it all on two plates.

Being a generous master she gives Mordred all but one half of one sausage patty (so two and a half for her), two buttered toast slices, and the majority of the eggs. She also gets a nice porcelain tea cup with a blue damask pattern scrolling about in a circle on its side. The tea is an English Breakfast tea. Sugar and a small bottle of cream will be placed on the table for her to fix it how she likes.]

What is the other one?

[ She hesitates a moment, but: ] Clarent Blood Arthur. [ 'Rebellion Against My Beautiful Father.' ] The full power of the sword that overthrew my father. Nothing that gets in the way of my attack will survive, Master.

[ Which is the important part. Satisfied that Rin gave her more of the food, she tears into the first sausage patty... then grabs her tea cup and slurps it down like it's a mug of booze. Mistake. ]

Shit, that's hot! [ There goes any seriousness. ]

Of course it's hot! What do you think tea is, Saber?

[Oh lord why is her Saber so dumb? Who did she slight in another life?

Rin leans forward and just rests her face in her hands.]

S-shut up!

[ In her defence, she predates tea reaching Europe... but she could have taken a sip (or just felt the heat in her hands) before throwing the entire thing back. At least her mouth heals up quick, and she starts tearing into the food again immediately. ]

Whatever, it's fine. I won't be defeated that easily. [ By tea. ] Hurry up and eat. We should go out and patrol.

Do you even understand how this is going to work? We're in a city, and the rules mean we won't be fighting anyone until at least dark. Any Master worth their salt is going to be lying low until after sunset.

[What does Mordred want? A tour of Fuyuki?]

[ Yes. But also— ]

My Noble Phantasm is an anti-army type. It needs a wide open space, or it'll destroy everything in its path. [ Buildings, people... she chews another patty, starts talking again with it half eaten in her mouth. ] Obviously, I need to find a suitable battlefield. Some sort of field would be best.

[ She swallows, finally. ]

If common folk are in the way, I won't be able to give it my all. Well, you could use a command seal to force me, but I'm sure you know the consequences of that. [ Said with obvious killing intent. ]
