[ God, she's rude. Mordred at least has the sense to stay dematerialized when she jumps down after her — neither her armour nor what she wears under it would do anything except attract attention. Rin can probably feel the grumpiness still radiating off her Servant, even when she's invisible. ]

Why are you wearing a skirt? It's cold. [ Yep, she's asking. ] And isn't it a little short?

Jealous?

[Rin says nothing else as she makes her way down the hill. She'll be walking into town and taking public transport.

Because it's cheaper.]

Ugh, whatever. You're the one who's going to freeze.

[ Mordred can wear whatever she wants — weather doesn't really affect a Servant — but Rin is a different matter. She follows her dutifully, but she's still grumbling. ]

... Isn't there anything faster than this? I was hoping you'd have a vehicle or something. [ She does have B-rank riding, so she could drive a car, though... "drive" is being generous. ] I can't believe you're such a cheapskate, Master.

Like I said, it's not because I want to be. If it wasn't for my stupid legal guardian I'd just pay for a taxi. But he ruined everything.

[EVERYTHING IS KOTOMINE'S FAULT.

Anyway, eventually they make it to the train. It seems like a boring ride, but... someone is getting a little too close to Tohsaka on purpose.]

[ In so many more ways than she knows.

But like Mordred's going to stand for some weirdo getting close to her Master — she doesn't realize what's happening at first, but it's obvious before long. She rematerializes just out of sight, back in full armour, and suddenly the guy has a sword at his neck. ]

Yo. You think it's okay to bother a lady? [ That's the closest she's ever sounded to knightly. She literally kicks him up the ass, and watches him go scurrying down the train. ] Pathetic. [ To Rin: ] Next time, Master, go with the taxi anyway.

[ People are staring. Have fun trying to pass her off as a cosplayer or something. ]

[WHAT THE FUCK MORDRED. Like, okay. Rin appreciates the sentiment. In fact she's a little flattered Mordred would risk exposing herself to protect her honor. However in a train is not the time because Rin can't just go ahead and get rid of like fifty fucking witnesses. Thankfully the train comes to a station fairly quickly after Mordred makes a scene. With haste Rin grabs Mordred's hand and drags her out of the train and to the station.

All while scolding her in a hissed whisper.]

What do you think you're doing? Aren't you aware of the rules?!

[ Mordred, meanwhile, just crosses her arms and makes an annoyed noise as Rin drags her along. ]

I'm a knight, Master. Do you think I could just stand for that? [ At least her sword is gone — dismissed as quickly as it came — so they probably won't get arrested. Probably. ] People are much more vulgar in this age.

[ Or she just didn't see what most people got up to in her time, given her life spent in Camelot and on the march. Still. ]

It won't be a problem once you buy me clothes. [ Yes, it's Rin's fault for not doing that yet. ] Go behind one of the buildings. I'll take spirit form again.

[Rin huffs, and ducks into a small alley with Mordred so she can dematerialize without spooking anyone.]

You should have just let me handle it. That kind of thing isn't uncommon.

Even if I wasn't a knight, I'm your Servant, idiot. It's my job to protect my Master.

[ She sounds genuinely annoyed, but dematerializes promptly, still sticking to Rin's side while invisible. ]

Besides, what sort of idiot thinks that will accomplish anything? Humans are foolish creatures.

Weren't you human once?

[Rin sighs, and begins to emerge back into the public eye heading toward the shopping district. It might be a bit of a walk, but at least they aren't crammed in a train with perverts.]

No. [ In an icy tone. ] Don't compare me to humans. I'm superior to you lot.

[ There's a strange mix of jealousy and bitterness buried under the mountain of arrogance — just barely enough to pick up on. She tries to play it off as frustration at their slow pace. ]

Ugh. This would be faster if I could carry you. [ Grumble, grumble. ]

[No? That's an interesting development if Mordred isn't lying. Rin makes her way downtown as quickly as she can without drawing attention.

Which isn't very fast considering she's short, but Mordred forced them off the train.]

Like I'd let you carry me through the city.

[Especially not with the way Mordred carried her last night!]

[ Mordred's not lying — for a traitorous knight, she's easy to read sometimes. Her sudden foul mood at being asked that question starts to dissipate, but slowly. ]

We'll take the rooftops at night. I won't tolerate this sort of pace. [ Said like a true king. She's quiet until they get there, though, unless she's spoken to again; occupying herself by looking around the city as they walk. It's at least more interesting than being cooped up in the house. ]

[Rin simply nods. She has no disagreements to Mordred's suggestion. When they finally reach a clothing shop Rin picks something simple off the rack and heads toward a changing room. Once she's inside she hangs the small top up and gestures with her hand.]

You can show yourself now.

[ Mordred does — without her armour, since she'll have to get changed in a minute anyway. Her expression is neutral again, the bad mood having faded with time. ]

Hm. It's simple, but it'll do. [ She nods, pulling it on over the strap covering her chest. It fits fine. ] Now bring me the rest. Oh, I like red the most, Master.

[ It's the colour of blood. ]

[Ah. With Mordred materialized it feels a little cramped. They're just a hair's breadth away from brushing chests, and if they were any closer she'd be able to feel Saber's breath on her skin.

Rin shuffles out of the changing room and into the store. It might take her a bit to gather everything, but when she returns it's with a red leather jacket, a loose white button down (that almost looks like it's for a guy), and black pants. It's all draped over her arm, and the jacket is at the bottom.]

Here. This should do it.

[And they'll match. #Aesthetic.]

[ Her impatience vanishes the moment Rin comes back. She's satisfied with everything else, but it's when she sees the jacket that her eyes light up. ]

Ah— this is some good taste, Master! [ Wait, now she's embarrassed. ] I-I mean, it's okay? No, that's not enough...

[ Her grin looks like a little kid being given an awesome Christmas present — which is fitting, because she's never been given anything besides weapons and armour in her life. She's trying to stay cool and composed about it, but that's not working at all. ]

Anyway! There's not enough room with the two of us here, so leave so I can try it on! [ Said while virtually pushing Rin out of the room. ]

[Rin protests as she's pushed out of the changing room, but eventually huffs and takes a seat in one of the 'boyfriend chairs'. There she waits for a moment as her eyes wander over clothes she has no business considering buying for herself.

She heaves a defeated sigh before hanging her head.]

[ At least Mordred doesn't take too long — it's easy to dress when your 'normal' clothes are made of magic. She comes out, still grinning, and does an excited little spin on the spot... which she immediately looks embarrassed about. But she can't hide the look on her face. ]

This is great! Seriously, you're the best, Master. [ Not even sarcastic. Remember this the next time she's being a jerk, maybe. ]

[Mordred's giddiness actually gets to Rin. She smiles as the Servant spins in place, and stands when she begins to look a little embarrassed.]

All right. Give me the tags. I'll go pay for them.

[Was this really all it took to get on her good side? It's a real shame she's on a budget, then.]

[ A real shame... gonna be even more of a shame when she sees how much Mordred eats. ]

Here! [ Yeah, she's still excited. Very slowly calming down, but still excited — she can stay materialized now, after all. ] Now we can explore the city. Well, I guess you already know your way around, but the important part is me.

[ There's the arrogance again. At least she's still smiling? ]

[With an exasperated sigh Rin takes the tags from Mordred so she can stay dressed while Rin pays for the stuff. Most of it doesn't seem too hard on the wallet except for that leather jacket.

At least Mordred isn't calling her names anymore. Rin composes herself so she's not staring longingly at a rack of skirts she desperately wanted to try on as they leave. Sure, she could window shop, but Rin is positive Mordred would complain about that as well.]

I'll take you by the other places in the city that rest on leylines. From there I can show you the quickest way to get somewhere you can use your Noble Phantasm.

[ She'd definitely complain... good call Rin. No matter how good her mood is now, that can change on a whim the moment she gets bored. ]

Excellent, Master. Using it anywhere not open is strictly forbidden. [ Which means yes, she will kill Rin if she orders her to do it. ] But you don't want to involve any commoners either, right? You got so worked up about me dealing with that idiot on the train.

[ Teasing, but she sounds glad about it. ]

All who aren't involved are to stay that way. It's one of the rules of the War I will stick to the strictest. We're only to fight away from the public eye. It'll be tricky, but I'm positive we'll be able to handle it.

[Rin refuses to acknowledge Mordred's comment about the train. Doing so will probably only make her feel validated. Instead she keeps her attention on the people around them. Her eyes search the crowd in a defensive manner.]

Tonight we will scale the rooftops. Getting familiar with those will be for the best. Most people are too busy to look up unless there's a very loud commotion above them.

Of course. And most people are far too concerned with themselves to pay any attention to such a thing.

[ Not that Mordred's one to talk. Her instincts might be highly tuned, but so is her ego. ]

You've planned well for this. I wasn't sure I could trust somebody without a wish, but it doesn't seem like you're lying at all. [ About her reasons for being here, about not wanting to get civilians involved... Mordred still thinks she's weird as hell, but it's an interesting sort of weird, the kind she doesn't mind. ] And what about me? Are you pleased with the Servant you summoned, Master?

[ Not that she's had a chance to prove herself yet, but obviously just her presence should be impressive enough. Praise her. ]
