You did what?

[Her peaceful just-had-a-great-sleep face immediately twists into something twisted and angry. Her eyes grow wide with fury as her hands clench into tight fists. How — how dare he. How dare he use her things without permission. Overstep his boundaries as a servant. Does he even know the meager budget she puts herself on and for what reason? Of course he doesn't. Thinking about it makes her blood boil over.]

[He shrugs, clearly unperturbed by her anger.]

Yeah, you had nothing but junk around here. Figured my star mage was going to need some real food in her if we're going to win this war.

[And well, if he eats some of the food too, what's the harm? No way a girl like her is gonna eat a whole extra large pizza with extra cheese all by herself. That's just nuts.]

[When she speaks it's through grit teeth.] Do you have any idea how much that cost, and if I could even afford it?

[There's plenty of food in the house, but it's all cheap. Instant meals and the like. And here he is with a huge pizza — and in Japan pizza is not cheap. Her feet, donned in slippers, take her as fast as they can to the table, and she SLAMS her hand down on it as hard as she can.]

Did you even think at all?!

[Some empathy would be really good right here, but Greed never had much to spare. He eyes her dully, recalling only that he technically should be on good behavior because the fist pounded in front of him has three command seals on it.]

Honestly? Not really. Nice digs like this? I figured it wasn't a problem. But hey, lesson learned. Besides, once we have the Grail, money will be the last of our problems.

[Is he going to have to live on a budget, though? He's not sure he can do that. If Rin is broke, he might just have to figure out some other way to make some cash. He's not going to go fighting other Heroic Spirits waltzing around like some hobo.]

[Fuck it.

FUCK IT. Rin holds up her hand and begins an incantation. Her expression is absolutely furious, and mana begins flowing about her. After the incantation is finished she hollers at the top of her lungs:]

You will obey me, and not do anything without my permission!

[TAKE THAT YOU BUM ASS FUCKING MOOCHER]

[Holy shit, can she do that? Can she actually do that? His strange connection to the Grail doesn't provide an immediate answer so he's actually just a slight bit worried that maybe she actually worked.]

Are you fucking kidding me!? I'm a servant, not a slave!

[Damn... he even feels compelled to follow her, too. Ugh, is that what Dolcetto had to put up with all the time?]

You're the one who went through my things and stole my card to use it without my permission! How the hell else am I supposed to prevent you from doing it again?

[It's not like she actually wants to treat him as a slave, or else that command would have been the first words out of her mouth.]

Maybe actually telling me first!? [He's pissed. Like, beyond pisses. If there's one thing he's not short on, it's his own sense of vanity. And that order just completely destroyed it. But he only has to follow orders if she says them, right? So if he can keep her from talking... A mage could be a powerful ally even without a tongue.

He stands up and advances towards her. His index finger and thumb discretely go black, taking a razor's edge to them.]

Take it back.

[It's not like the command could even make him do something he doesn't want to do. He may feel inclined to do what she says, but if it's something he doesn't want to do, or if he wants to do something against what she has previously said, he'll just need to muster a bit more will power to do it. The order was too vague to be absolute, or even halfway effective. Mostly just a waste of mana.

But she doesn't know that, or if she does she's too fired up to care. Rin's fingers curl and her nails scratch the table surface.]

No.

[It's unfortunate that Greed has not yet learned that, given he's had no additional order to disobey. Which means he sees himself as having no option. He's going to have to just rip out her tongue and call it even.]

Alright, then I'll have to make sure it's your last order!

[And like that, his right hand turns into a complete claw and he dashes towards her, ready to take her by the collar. He's fast, but not so fast as to not give her time to react.]

[Despite being in her pajamas Rin is not slow either. The moment his hand turns black she's in a defensive stance, and when he lunges at her she dodges. With athletic speed she hits away his hand — her own glowing with mana flowing through it. She then steps in close to him, and deals an open palmed blow to his stomach that's only meant to shove him back to put space between them.]

What the hell are you doing!?

[Well shit, the girl had some solid reflexes. And some potent magic, too. The actual physical blow doesn't do much to him, though. He's a Servant, after all, and far sturdier than he ever was as just a Homunculus.]

Sorry but you left me no choice, boss. If you won't take back your command, I'm going to ensure you can never make another one.

Stop this, right now!

[She lifts her arm. Her hand and all its fingers take aim at him. A black, void-like ball circled in red forms at the tips of her fingers like a prepared bullet waiting to fire.]

[Stop. The word resounds in his head and for a moment, almost by instinct, he seems to stop. For a moment, he was convinced she had him. But a moment later, he realizes he's able to move anyway even if it seems to go against his some foreign and innate desire to want to obey. He can still move. He can still do whatever the hell he wants to.

Which leads to him casually batting away her hand and then proceeding to do nothing. Except bursting out into laughter.]

You idiot! You wasted your Command Seal on nothing! [He leans forward, almost bowled over in laughter.] Goddamn, I thought you really had me!

[She, too, almost thinks she has him. He pauses for a moment and her heart lifts.

But then he doubles over in laughter. She bristles immediately, and when he howls out about her failure she turns bright red with wide eyes. Embarrassment and a little shame overcome her. Rin swipes her card, which she notices casually resting on a nearby counter, and dramatically turns to storm out of the kitchen.

She'll take care to cancel the card and order a new one. If he cares to go looking for her later he'll find her pouting with a bunch of text books. Catching up on the class she's missing today.]

[He probably should feel bad about that. If he had the Prince still to be his conscience, he'd probably have the good sense to work his way towards it. But instead he has a snicker at her expense and resumes his meal. But it doesn't taste quite as good as it did before. It's spoiled somehow. He ends up lingering there for awhile, trying to convince himself he's still on top of the world.

But damned if he can't keep rewinding it in his mind. What was worse, the fear in her eyes or the humiliation he'd inflicted on her? Stupid Ling... he was never this soft in the past. But maybe he'd gone just a little too far. Not the tongue thing. That was more or less justified in the situation. But mocking her was kind of like kicking her when she was down.

Goddammit.

Sometime later, when she's in her study trying to concentrate, he'll show up. Given her magical senses, he can't exactly be stealthy, but he still makes his way there invisible. He props himself up on the desk beside her books, not bothering to become visible again. Mostly because it's easier to do this when she can't see him...]

... y'know, I really thought you had me bound. You gotta be a helluva mage to do that. I really wanted to obey that order.

Well, I wouldn't have been able to summon you if I were some spring chicken. And you know why I'm on a budget? It's because being a mage is expensive. My family uses gemstones to store mana, and use it in battle. I'd rather have as much artillery as I need than spend it on binge eating.

[Rin turns the page in her book. Her eyes look over it. Even if Greed was visible she wouldn't be looking at him anyway. At least hearing about her proficiency boosts her a little, it's something she takes pride in, but it doesn't improve her mood completely.

She's still hungry after all.]

[Ah, so that's it, huh? He didn't know anything about gemstones, but that had to be expensive. He didn't have to be from this century to get that.]

Well you know, I kind of thought I was the artillery. I was expecting you to be a bit more on the sidelines.

[You know... as like some kind of champion. Not a partner.]

You're the big guns, but a master who can't defend themselves is a sitting duck. I don't plan to be a puppet master squirreled away behind a curtain, or some helpless moron while on the front lines. I'm in this to win it.

[She stands. Her stomach growls loud enough for him to hear, and Rin frowns.]

[Yeah, well, that growling stomach isn't his fault. Not the way he sees it.]

Food's still there if you want it. Be a shame for it to go to waste.

[And by the looks of it, they probably won't be getting anything like it for a long time.]

[Rin opens her mouth to protest. To say she isn't hungry. But that's a lie. She sighs, and brushes some of her long hair behind her shoulders. Fine, she'll eat. The young mage begins to walk toward the kitchen expecting Greed to follow.]

What kind did you get?

[He folds his hands behind him and follows, perhaps more dutifully than he normally wound. Her command seal was having a subconscious effect on him still, making him perhaps just a bit more amiable than he was accustomed to.]

Went for the old classic: Pepperoni.

[When Rin reaches the table she throws open the lid of the box. One of her hands slips in to feel the crust. It's a little cool by now. With a frown she collect a baking sheet and slips a slice on there so she can heat it up a little in the oven.]

So it's going to be greasy...

[He shrugs and resumes his seat again, but sitting in it backwards because screw the rules.]

A little grease is good for you. Loosens you up. And believe me, you are one wound up lady.

[After the oven is set to a specific temperature Rin opens the door, and bends over to slip the baking sheet with the pizza on it inside. This action might bring attention to her long legs that are now visible since she got dressed after storming off on him earlier. Long socks reach up above her knees, and the hem of her skirt rests just enough above the socks to show a little thigh.]

You'll be taking those words back once the war starts.
