[He probably should feel bad about that. If he had the Prince still to be his conscience, he'd probably have the good sense to work his way towards it. But instead he has a snicker at her expense and resumes his meal. But it doesn't taste quite as good as it did before. It's spoiled somehow. He ends up lingering there for awhile, trying to convince himself he's still on top of the world.

But damned if he can't keep rewinding it in his mind. What was worse, the fear in her eyes or the humiliation he'd inflicted on her? Stupid Ling... he was never this soft in the past. But maybe he'd gone just a little too far. Not the tongue thing. That was more or less justified in the situation. But mocking her was kind of like kicking her when she was down.

Goddammit.

Sometime later, when she's in her study trying to concentrate, he'll show up. Given her magical senses, he can't exactly be stealthy, but he still makes his way there invisible. He props himself up on the desk beside her books, not bothering to become visible again. Mostly because it's easier to do this when she can't see him...]

... y'know, I really thought you had me bound. You gotta be a helluva mage to do that. I really wanted to obey that order.

Well, I wouldn't have been able to summon you if I were some spring chicken. And you know why I'm on a budget? It's because being a mage is expensive. My family uses gemstones to store mana, and use it in battle. I'd rather have as much artillery as I need than spend it on binge eating.

[Rin turns the page in her book. Her eyes look over it. Even if Greed was visible she wouldn't be looking at him anyway. At least hearing about her proficiency boosts her a little, it's something she takes pride in, but it doesn't improve her mood completely.

She's still hungry after all.]

[Ah, so that's it, huh? He didn't know anything about gemstones, but that had to be expensive. He didn't have to be from this century to get that.]

Well you know, I kind of thought I was the artillery. I was expecting you to be a bit more on the sidelines.

[You know... as like some kind of champion. Not a partner.]

You're the big guns, but a master who can't defend themselves is a sitting duck. I don't plan to be a puppet master squirreled away behind a curtain, or some helpless moron while on the front lines. I'm in this to win it.

[She stands. Her stomach growls loud enough for him to hear, and Rin frowns.]

[Yeah, well, that growling stomach isn't his fault. Not the way he sees it.]

Food's still there if you want it. Be a shame for it to go to waste.

[And by the looks of it, they probably won't be getting anything like it for a long time.]

[Rin opens her mouth to protest. To say she isn't hungry. But that's a lie. She sighs, and brushes some of her long hair behind her shoulders. Fine, she'll eat. The young mage begins to walk toward the kitchen expecting Greed to follow.]

What kind did you get?

[He folds his hands behind him and follows, perhaps more dutifully than he normally wound. Her command seal was having a subconscious effect on him still, making him perhaps just a bit more amiable than he was accustomed to.]

Went for the old classic: Pepperoni.

[When Rin reaches the table she throws open the lid of the box. One of her hands slips in to feel the crust. It's a little cool by now. With a frown she collect a baking sheet and slips a slice on there so she can heat it up a little in the oven.]

So it's going to be greasy...

[He shrugs and resumes his seat again, but sitting in it backwards because screw the rules.]

A little grease is good for you. Loosens you up. And believe me, you are one wound up lady.

[After the oven is set to a specific temperature Rin opens the door, and bends over to slip the baking sheet with the pizza on it inside. This action might bring attention to her long legs that are now visible since she got dressed after storming off on him earlier. Long socks reach up above her knees, and the hem of her skirt rests just enough above the socks to show a little thigh.]

You'll be taking those words back once the war starts.

[Oh, he notices. He may be a single vice, but he isn't blind. His new master was quite the looker, but he was being discrete at looking. But even he knew better than to get distracted in the middle of a war like this. It was one thing to rip out her tongue, quite another to, well, play with it.]

Not a chance. I don't do take backs. [A pause.] I usually don't like fighting women either, so that whole thing earlier... [An apology? He's sorry?] It was a little out of character for me.

So what, if our enemy is a woman do you expect me to handle it?

[She stands properly while shutting the door. She then turns her back on the kitchen counter, and leans against it.]

I'm not opposed, but that seems an odd line to draw in war.

Oh, if it's a servant, I'll do it. But expect me to complain about it. The Grail should know better.

[So all things considered... he'll just bank on there not being any female servants. If there are, it'll just be awkward and he'll have to whinge some.]

[Rin very obviously rolls her eyes before folding her arms under her chest.]

If I were the Grail that would be the perfect excuse to send out all female servants.

[She smirks a little trying to imagine him dragging his feet over fight 6 women servants and possibly their female masters.]

Ugh. Don't even pretend like that's the case. I sure as hell don't deserve to be put through that kind of torture.

[He even lets his shoulders sag and his chin rest on the back of the chair.]

Speaking of which, any thoughts on when number seven's going to surface?

[That's enough to get her to straight out and become more serious. She raises a hand to her chin as she considers. Kirei had been nagging her for quite a while to summon her servant always pushing her that if she didn't summon one soon there would be no time left. The time for war was quick approaching.]

Soon. I would say within the week or so.

So if I'm reading into this right, this next master won't be from one of the big families. Which means low on ammunition and not much Mana to speak of. After all, who would risk waiting and getting whatever leftover servant out there?

[So not a pushover, but definitely a less potent servant. He might know about the modern war and the war for the grail itself, but his knowledge didn't extend to the significant powers out there now. Tricky.]

That's a good possibility, but we don't want to rule out any mage who might be coming over from Clock Tower to participate. It's possible they're powerful, but struggled acquiring a catalyst.

[Were it not for the catalyst left by her father she'd probably would have been winging it.]

Trying to form a strategy without knowing what we're up against might be a bad idea. I wouldn't want false assumptions to get us killed.

[Though Rin doesn't seem too worried. She does have a Saber after all!]

[Greed may not be showing it, but he does have concerns. He's a badass in his own right, but the fact he's in this body presents a particular problem. He has three Noble Phantasms, but he hasn't yet told her that his third and most potent cannot be accessed.]

Well I hope they get their act together soon. I'm going to rot kicking around here. Playing roommates isn't exactly what I signed on for.

I'm not the most excited about it either, so don't think you're alone.

[She grumbles her retort, but sighs as she starts to pace the area. She begins to consider the affinity of each class and what their skills might be just based on what their opponents might be summoned as. She cannot prepare for specific scenarios, but she can be sure to be more cautious around select foes.]

Beserker and Archer will probably be our two biggest threats. Caster too, depending on which Heroic Spirit is summoned. The others shouldn't be too bad, I don't think. There is also their masters to think of. Will they be skilled, or incompetent?

We're better off targeting the Masters. We figure out who they are, I can have them finished easily.

[It's not a question, but a pointed statement. He wants to see just how dirty she's willing to fight. Despite his talk about not wanting to fight women, Greed isn't afraid to fight a little dirty and underhanded. Unusual for a Servant, maybe, but he wasn't deluded by some sense of honor.]

[There's a twinge of something that makes it clear she's not completely on board with the slaughter of other masters. A flinch and a wince. Rin is quick to try and cover it up, though.]

Not so fast. Other masters are mages too, and won't leave themselves wide open to attack unless they're completely stupid.

[They wouldn't be easy for him to find, either. Though if he had the Prince still, well...]

Maybe not, but you'll agree that they're the more vulnerable part of their outfit, right? I mean, if some Servant came barging in here now, do you think they'd go for me or you first?

That depends on the servant. Most masters would want to aim for other masters, but some servants are...

[Well, they're Heroic Spirits after all, aren't they? Not all of them are good, but plenty of them are bound to be.

Right?]

Stuck up, self righteous pricks? Oh believe me, I know. I've run with that sort before. Good guys to hang around, but they don't stand a chance in a conflict like this.

[He recalls one such individual, Edward Elric... that poor runt would be a goner in a day. You couldn't win if you couldn't kill and he refused to do it.]
