Reaching out to Rin is like stepping into a moonlit parlor. Everything is quiet, muted, and neatly tucked away. Almost like a "lobby," of sorts to keep visitors away from the rest of what goes on in her head... and her heart. This space is cool, and placid. Much like the surface of a lake in winter as it reflects the pale glow of the celestial bodies hanging above it in the sky.

A reflection of serenity rather the true thing. A mask of elegance to hide anything that may be unsightly. Anything that may betray her.

[Does this mean Mordred can come kill her in her sleep? Yeah, maybe if she wants to use her Noble Phantasm on her dorm in Yima's manor (which she's not sure she'll be able to keep for much longer considering the environment) but if Dark ever finds her maybe she can call out to Mordred for help.]

[ Of course she'd do it anyway... unfortunately, Rin has a point. That won't stop her from being petulant as hell, but for the sake of easing her boredom, she'll put some of her ego aside. ]

[Wow!!! That's so much more than she expected! Incredibly pleased, almost as if Mordred can feel the radiating smugness, Rin rattles off her address. A dorm in Yima's manor — dangerously close to the overgrown tree roots capturing the shardless with blight. But as of now Shard-Bearers are uninfluenced and... well she'd feel bad if she just skipped town without the kid that lives next door. She hates it, but he's "part of her world" now.]

[ Of course Mordred doesn't knock when she arrives a few minutes later. She just materializes inside Rin's dorm; wearing a grin that almost covers more than her clothes do. ]

'sup, assface? You really fell for all that knightly crap, huh?

[It's so cold why is she so naked? Ugh, if Rin had more access to jewels she'd feel more confident about putting up more than just a magical lock at the door.]

"Fell for it"? Says who? Sincerity didn't matter. You did what I asked so I gave you what you wanted. How many times do I have to explain equivalent exchange to you?

[ She immediately scowls. ]

Anyway... where's the stuff you were working on before I got here? And more importantly, where's the food at?

I'm mixing dry ingredients in the mortar and pestle over by the desk, and the food is being kept cold. I'll have to heat it up for you. Can you be patient, or are you going to gobble it up without a care?

[Luckily for Mordred she hasn't had a chance to try feeding Dark just yet.]

... I'm no common barbarian. I'll wait, but it had better be worth it.

[ After glancing around, she sits on the edge of the desk like a cat; legs kicking. ]

What manner of medicine is this? Is it the antidote from before?

No. I already gave the two vials you requested to Gray while we enjoyed tea together.

[Tohsaka undoes her ribbons to instead pull her hair up into a ponytail.]

Modern mages aren't capable of conjuring miracles, and the methods we do use to try and replicate or imitate them come at a cost. The medicine is for me.

[She'll pull out the prepared food to heat it up, and even include rice to help fill that EXPOSED TUMMY of Mordred's.]

[ Mostly to herself: ] Dammit... you better not have told her anything about me.

[ Then, louder, as she watches Rin: ]

So, what, are you dying or something? That's gotta suck. [ Thanks, Mordred. ]

...Well, you got the spirit at least. The most concerning thing is that the crystallization of my family's combined knowledge can be incredibly painful if not managed correctly.

[If she goes too long without the medicine, or uses too much mana... yeah, it'll be a problem. Tohsaka sighs a little as she carefully, dutifully, watches over reheating the food. Hopefully her ( 1 ) blunder of the day is already behind her since she nearly broke down crying over the price of a gem she really wanted at the Antiques and Baubles Market. She embarrassed herself a bit.]

[ Her legs stop swinging. ]

Is it merely a form of pain relief? Or a way to treat the symptoms directly? [ Before Rin can answer: ] And the ingredients — are they simple to acquire here?

[The way Mordred's attention turns more focused doesn't escape Rin, but she knows enough by now that if she points it out the conversation will turn sour.]

They should be simple, but with the Blight it's getting increasingly difficult. I've already had to make some questionable compromises. Back home I grew most of the ingredients myself.

[uproared]

Heh. I'm surprised your bitchy attitude didn't kill 'em all off.

[ Though considering even Morgan maintained a garden for curses and poisons, she's not actually surprised at all. ]

First, let me be clear: I have no interest in either the preparation or the creation of your medicine. Nor can I do anything about the spread of that foul blight. But if there are any ingredients which would be dangerous for you to obtain...

While I would absolutely love to be in your debt, [read: absolutely not at all] I don't believe they're dangerous to get. Just expensive or low in stock. At this rate I might have to write to Kathova for some help, or ask those who care for the Greenhouses for some seeds.

[She keeps her "oh, that's cute" observation of Mordred's behavior to herself. She'd rather not be killed in her own home.]

[ She smacks the side of her fist down against the tabletop grumpily. ]

Good, 'cause I wasn't gonna help you anyway! Mage problems aren't Mordred problems! Now hurry up with that food, would ya?

[The sudden slam sends a jolt through Rin. Goodness! Is she that upset she can't prove herself?]

You said you could be patient.

[It shouldn't take too long since Rin won't be making any for herself, but Mordred lucks out! Dark requested and got ingredients for gyukatsu and curry, so Mordred gets to have her meat portion. Rin fills one half side of the bowl with rice, and carefully pours in the curry to the other side. The beef cutlet rests delicately at the top cut in generous slices.

Mordred is western, so she'll include a spoon before handing it over.]

This is me being patient!

[ But for all her huffing and puffing, she doesn't bother Rin again until the food is ready. Mordred glances at the spoon... then upends the whole bowl into her face instead, gulping it down like the barbarian she just claimed not to be. She eats with a frankly disgusting speed, and when she finally stops, there are bits of her meal scattered all over her grinning face, and half a cutlet still being chewed on. ]

Damn, this is freakin' great! Way better than any of Gawain's "specials"! Hey, Red, you wanna be my personal chef from now on?
