[Immediately Rin is distracted by the diamond. Her eyes follow it as he waves it about, and they stayed glued to the sparkling jewel as she steps closer. It seems she has lost all interest in his name now that her attention has become focused elsewhere.]

Where did you even get a diamond that big?

[And the clarity of the stone is great too! She wonders what it would look like in actual light. In fact the diamond seems to get more of her admiration than he himself does.]

[She should be asking about him, not the stone! But her dropping the subject of his name is welcome, so he indulges her.]

Ah, this? India. The rose-cut style is lovely, isn't it?

[He takes a step in too, closing the distance between them. Nikolai carefully removes the gem from his staff, then he reaches out for Rin's wrist to gently turn her hand palm up and place the diamond in it.

Naturally, it's just an excuse to touch her.]

[Rin doesn't mind, or even notice how much he dwarfs her. Instead all her attention zeroes in on the diamond. Its quality is exquisite, the weight of it astounds her, and perfect edges make her face light up.]

It's so big. [All that awe and wonder returns.] And so perfectly polished. What a lovely jewel.

[She's jealous. How much mana can this thing hold? She can imagine pouring so much power into making it worth while, and hours spent keeping the stone pristine. Funny enough this is the first time she has smiled all night.]

Yes, it was always my favorite. I suppose that's why it's stayed with me. Though...

[He glances down at the rest of his regalia and laughs.]

Based on the information about this era I've received, everything else is a touch ostentatious.

[The jewel in her hand flashes as he takes just a pinch of the mana stored there to change his clothing into a crisp three-piece suit. He would prefer white since that's his favorite, but apparently black is more fashionable... and he must be fashionable. At least he can have a white undershirt with a red tie. A splash of red on white is just invigorating.]

[The flash spooks her a little. Rin flinches for just a second. When she looks up she stares. The small mage is a little sad to see all the jewels gone, but... She can't say the suit is unattractive. After all, suits a sharp especially for men of high standing. After all, her father always wore suits. The lapels always perfectly pressed and a pocket square expertly complimenting the outfit folded and tucked away...

No, she won't be complaining at all. Instead she simply nods.]

Yes, that's much more acceptable.

[He inclines his head, holding his hand out for the diamond. It's safest sitting on the head of his staff, after all.]

It's getting rather late, Master. Do you have any engagements tomorrow? For that matter, has the war started yet?

[Rin delicately hands back the stone. The care she puts into passing it off means he'll get to touch her once more as his open palm touches hers. He'll find her soft to the touch with both the diamond and his hand much bigger than her own. Also, since Nikolai has already noticed the time, she allows herself a large yawn only hindered by the fact she covers her mouth in politeness. She then lets her lids fall a little as well.]

I have decided to stay home from class tomorrow so you can introduce yourself to the city and I can rest. Don't mind the clocks, though. They're an hour behind, which is why you're here tonight.

[A roundabout way of saying she botched the summoning and he's a mistake. Rin walks by him and exits the study.]

[Nikolai fixes the gem back in the staff and follows after her. He's at least going to see his new Master safely to her bedroom before he goes out prowling. The wards should keep her safe... though she didn't answer his question about the war. She forgot to introduce herself or ask his name again too. Women are so airheaded!]

I will correct them before you wake. What time would you like to get up?

[She's probably airheaded AND lazy, so he'll have to get her out of bed.]

Don't mind me. I'll wake up when I've had enough rest. My mana peaks at two a.m., so I'm up later than I'm used to.

[That's not completely true. She has been up at two before utilizing the increase in mana to store power in gems, but she doesn't make it a habit. Especially not with class the next morning. She has an image to uphold and a reputation to keep. She is, after all, and heiress to a prestigious line of mages.

While she walks down the hall to her room Rin begins to undo her hair. The wavy locks fall down about her shoulders. Astonishingly enough she looks even shorter with her hair down.]

Feel free to explore the grounds while I sleep, Caster. You're the sixth Servant to be summoned.

[Excellent, it hasn't begun yet. He follows her down the hall, stopping when she opens a door. Stepping into a lady's room uninvited is a surefire way to get on her bad side.]

Very well. Pleasant dreams.

[He manages to not look too lascivious as he says that, which is a feat for Nikolai...]

[The next morning she will wake late. She'd try to sleep to eleven, but around ten-thirty there's a knock at her door. Used to living alone, and being paranoid as most mages are, Rin rouses immediately. She's still a little out of it, though. In a modest nightgown she answers her door. One hand rests on the knob as the other rubs the sleep away from her eyes.]

Good morning?

[Why would he wake her before she wants to get up?]

[He allows her to sleep for a long time, really, he does. But when it passes the ten hour mark since she fell asleep, he decides that it's time for her to get up. It'll be time for people to start eating lunch soon, how slovenly can she be? At least she actually answers the door. Nikolai's eyes flit toward her messy hair, but his displeasure doesn't show on his face.]

Good morning, Master. I've prepared breakfast.

[He nods down to the tray in his hands with a flawless traditional Japanese breakfast on it. Though Nikolai was born a prince, he never trusted people to not try and do him in with poison and got quite good at cooking his own meals. She'll be hard pressed to find anything to complain about.]

[That definitely catches her by surprise. Rin steps back opening the door wider. The tray obviously means she cannot insist on eating downstairs. Nikolai crafted the perfect excuse to introduce himself to her room.

He'll find it mostly tidy with the exception of a few piles of books neatly stacked. A lot of them seem old, and handed down while others newer and more crisp. Despite that wide range all of them seem to have tabbed markers sticking out for reference and annotations. It seems like Tohsaka is a voracious reader, and an avid study.]

—Oh. Thank you, Caster. It looks [perfect] delicious.

[Her hands reach up to smooth down her wild hair. He should have at least given her time to brush!]

Naturally. I don't do things halfway.

[He'll keep his first visit brief. This is just a small way to get her used to the idea of having him in her room. After setting the tray down on the table and arranging everything just so, he pours her a cup of tea and makes for the door again. Rather than looking at her room, he's listening, smelling, feeling. It all adds up to making him seem very polite since he doesn't even glance around, he just carries out his business and is on his way.]

I'll see you when you've had a little more time to wake up. Enjoy.

[Rin eats her food like a lady, and finishes everything (because a girl on a budget don't waste shit). She then takes the time to get dressed, brush her hair, and be ready for the day. Which may take her a while, because she's a proper lady after all. When she finally descends the stairs to the main living area of the house she's got her socks on, that red sweater with the white cross design, and a black skirt with matching thigh high socks. Just a small bit of thigh peeks out between the skirt and socks, but aside from that the rest of her is modest and well covered. Her hair, like the night before, is pulled up by ribbon into twin ponytails.]

Caster?

[The house is big. Does she need to go searching for him?]

[She doesn't. He can hear her easily, and he makes his way over to her in short order. Nikolai is every bit as sharply dressed as she is, and in the same colors as well. He smiles pleasantly at her, fingering his staff as he takes in her appearance.]

Yes?

It's almost the middle of the day. Let us get started on the tour of the city. Tonight we can get a bird's eye view of Fuyuki, but knowing what it looks like on the street is important as well. Shall we get started?

[Says the girl who just woke up not to long ago! But Rin isn't one to dilly-dally once things are set in motion.]

[She's the one who just slept half the day! Nikolai keeps his annoyance from showing on his face, still intent on charming her so she'll just do whatever he says. He offers her his arm like a proper gentleman, inclining his head.]

Very well. Shall we?

[Unless she's saying he should dematerialize, but SURELY she wants to keep looking at this magnificence!]

Oh, but Caster! Don't you think a young woman like myself would stand out too much in a crowd if I were to take your arm? How bold.

[She teases while playfully refusing his offer.]

[Instead of getting offended (for once), Nikolai just chuckles.]

Not at all. It's only natural for a lady like yourself to have a proper escort, isn't it?

In truth? I've only heard of that in stories. In any case your size will stand out. We shouldn't draw too much attention.

[Rin then begins to pad her way to leave the house. In the main entryway she gathers her deep red coat and slips on her shoes.]

[So she wants him to dematerialize, then... well, he'll take a physical form again if he sees something that interests him, and also probably at lunch. His body isn't hindered by the need to properly digest his food any longer, so he would like a decent meal, he thinks. Nikolai follows Rin to the door, placing a hand on her shoulder once she's all ready. He smiles, vanishing a moment later.]

I suppose you don't have a car? Driving one of those seems like it would be fun.

[The hand on her shoulder gives her a small spook, but she recomposes herself quick. By the time they make it outside she's picture perfect in that no emotions show on her face. A cold, steeled magus.

As they go along Rin speaks to him even though he's invisible. She'll point out important land marks and strategic routes to take if a battle needs to be lured away from a public venue. She'll even show him Ryuudou Temple, another building constructed on top of a ley line.

Rin is about to head away, but a small growl of her stomach can be heard. It's a little past lunch time, and she was hoping she could wait until she got back home...]

[Nikolai shows a knack for strategy as well, talking with Rin about small surveillance spells they could place so that they won't be moving about unawares. Naturally, he wants to follow the ley lines through town, and he makes mental notes on how to exploit the area without sharing them with his master. She's too soft; women are always better off not knowing the grisly details.]

Are you hungry, Master? You need to keep up your strength. We just passed a decent looking restaurant...

...Yes, I suppose getting something to eat would be best. The way home isn't as quick as I would like it to be.

[Rin begins to whisper to herself a little as she does math on her fingers. Just a little self-budgeting as she tries to figure out how much she can spend to eat at this restaurant. All the while she walks toward it.

The eatery is small, but that's not too different from a lot of things in the city. The dining area has a lot of couple's seating, and the atmosphere is soft and dim with a bit of candle light. A soft and slow piano piece plays on their radio.]
