[ oh wait there's her master ]

Oh. Good morning, dear.

[ Did she miss seeing her change? Again? What is this loveless marriage? ]

[erbe]

[Rin jumps halfway across the room like a cat in those videos where they're spooked by cucumbers. She, now in a top that doesn't match her bottoms, plasters herself to the wall with her back safe against it.]

What was that?!

[travailler]

Oh, um...for a moment there, I feared the worst. I panicked.

[ This whole war thing is not going to be good for her anxiety. She looks embarrassed. ]

I'm sorry.

[erbe]

Please don't over-react in the house. The furniture is expensive, and I can't afford to replace it.

[Rin peels herself off the wall, and begins to head for the exit to the bedroom.]

Also please dress yourself in some day clothes.

[Don't try to look sexy in her mom's things. She can't have that.]

[travailler]

[ Too late, she has slid out of bed and is standing with her hands on her hips, chest out, waiting for a compliment.

waiting

waiting......... ]

[erbe]

My mother's things are a bit small for you, aren't they?

[With nothing more than a tired sigh, Rin leaves the room and begins to pad her way downstairs.]

[travailler]

[ ...She looks down at herself. No, they do not fit. Rin's mother clearly has a more slender figure. Still, El can skew that comment into a compliment--not because of any madness, but regular old denial. ]

H-Hey, don't be in such a hurry!

[ She had hoped to wear casual clothes, but she doesn't want Rin to be alone longer than necessary. She gets out of the pajamas and summons her wedding dress, following after her Master right after. ]

[erbe]

[Rin doesn't slow down the Berserker. Instead she keeps her steady pace to the kitchen. It's breakfast, and surely a mage can feel safe in her own house. When Elphelt reaches the kitchen Rin will be bent over with her head in the fridge as she inspects her options.]

[travailler]

[ Elphelt is staring Rin down as her Master is bent over. She is pouting. ]

Please be more careful and don't go far from me. Being a Berserker, I'm only good at frontal assaults, so as long as Assassin isn't defeated, you're in danger alone even in your own home.

[ Her Master made such a big deal about the war only to not be worrying about the details now... ]

Um, so, what's for breakfast?

[erbe]

Tea and toast. Also, I can handle myself for a quick walk around the house. I'm a magus, not a princess.

[Though it's a little sweet that Elphelt is so concerned. Rin removes herself from the fridge with jam and butter in hand.]

[travailler]

[ Elphelt pouts still, but says nothing about that. Of course her husband isn't a princess. That would be ridiculous. What her husband clearly is is the stubborn sort that doesn't take care of herself well enough. ]

Oh, oh! I can help with toast. You have a toaster, right? Move aside and let your wife work, Master.

[erbe]

No.

[Her arm shoots out blocking Elphelt from the toaster.]

Don't touch anything.

[SHE CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT.]

[travailler]

[ Her expression deflates. ]

Oh. Okay.

[ So she is just going to stand there. Rocking on her heels. Looking pathetic. ]

[erbe]

[Ugh. Now she feels bad.]

You can butter it when it's out.

[Rin tries not to look too upset by Elpehlt's pathetic demeanor as she puts the kettle on the stove.]

[travailler]

[ A wife's most powerful weapon is her pout! Perhaps this romance can be salvaged. ]

Okay! I'll do my best.

[ That seems to be all it takes to improve her mood. ]

[erbe]

[All right then. At least that keeps the Berseker occupied. Rin collects tea from the cupboard and washes out the mugs to reuse them.

It's really a shame she cannot use her fine china for such decadent tea.

Eventually the toast pops from the toaster, and Rin's eyes are on Elphelt to supervise from across the kitchen.]

[travailler]

[ She scurries right over and pulls out the toast! She can handle this much without breaking anything, probably.

She sets the toast down on a plate without breaking anything!

Finally, she takes a butter-knife from the table and so very, very carefully butters the toast.

Frankly, it looks more like she is carefully performing surgery rather than buttering toast. She is that afraid of ruining the toast, breaking the knife, or smashing the plate. But she looks happy! ]

[erbe]

[At the sight Rin pushes a little air out of her nose in amusement. It seems like she has that handled. When the kettle begins to whistle she plucks it up by the handle, and pours the hot water into the porcelain teacup. With the loose leaf tea she has to use the pot for steeping.]

[travailler]

[ Elphelt decides to take it upon herself to net some extra credit by sliding the chairs from the table for both herself and Rin. She manages to not break either of them!

But she doesn't sit down yet. She can't, not while her husband is working away over a hot pot of tea. ]

[erbe]

[While the tea steeps, Rin prepares the mugs by scooping sugar into them. When that's finished she sets their mugs on the table and dutifully puts the sugar back in the cabinet. After that she takes a seat, and begins to pour the tea.

Which would be great work for a servant to do, but Rin doesn't trust Elphelt with inherited porcelain.]

[travailler]

[ Finally, she sits down and once again she breaks nothing. She is getting the hang of this. Elphelt is content to watch Rin pour the tea, even though she should offer if she really wants to be the wife. She is distracted in thought. ]

Master, what are your plans for the day?

[ As much as Elphelt may hate the fact, they are in a war now. It is up to the Master to strategize. ]

[erbe]

Today I will give you a small tour of the city, and tonight you can see it from the rooftops. Tomorrow I will return to school.

[It's important she keep the fact that she's a master a secret, and acting like nothing has changed is a big part of that. It may bore Elphelt, but... at least she's not saying to go tear into descendants of mage families just incase they're masters.

Rin pushes a mug of hot tea toward Elphelt.]

[travailler]

[ Her eyes light up. She can handle boring--less so while Rin is at school, but still. This is an improvement over looking for a fight.

Besides, her Master and herself alone together touring the city? How could she interpret that as anything but a date? ]

That sounds fun. I'll be sure to keep an eye on the house while you're at school, as a good wife should.

[ She takes a sip of her tea. ]

[erbe]

Tch, what happened to never leave your side?

[Rin grumbles. Sure Elphelt can't dematerialize so there's absolutely no way she could take her to school without even normal people noticing, but it seems like such a waste of effort for the Berserker to cry that Rin left her a few feet behind in the house while then completely okay being separated for school.]

[travailler]

Should I go with you? I can be inconspicuous! Or perhaps I can infiltrate your school as an transfer student! Master is clearly the protagonist, so that would guarantee she would fall for me. That's always how it works out between the protagonist and the beautiful transfer student! Our gaze would meet while I introduce myself to the class and the teacher would just so happen assign me to the seat beside her...

[ Again, with the not-whispering. She would rather not leave her Master's side, but she just...straight up doesn't think to dematerialize and doesn't want to. Berserkers with that level of self control are still dangerous, given the likelihood of her forgetting to not materialize in the middle of class. ]
