FIRST IMPRESSIONS
While Tohsaka holds herself high, on the average one will find her to be pretty petite. Standing in at 159cm/5'2" some may consider her a tiny terror. She has dark, so-brown-it's-basically-black hair and deep blue eyes. Rin typically comes off as cold and polite in most conversations, but if provoked can get heated, loud, and antagonistic. She's also very vocal in other ways. As such most may find that she can have a very hot-and-cold personality. Because of her "uncute personality" and viewing her appearance as "just another tool" Tohsaka tends to dress in trendy/girly outfits. She also tends to take very good care of her hair and skin. Usually Rin will use floral perfumes to cover of a "medicinal/apothecary" scent of the medicine she uses for soothing her magic circuits, but since she doesn't have any access to that at the moment feel free to assume she smells of things like: sage, rosemary, frankincense, resin, patchouli and vetiver.
SHARD
Tohsaka's shard takes the shape of the form of the jewel her father left her and that ruby red triangular stone is located by her throat. Almost exactly as it does in her Formalcraft attire.
ASPECT TATTOO
Rin's aspect tattoo ( ❉ ) sits on the inside of her left thigh almost where a wedding garter would be (maybe even a little lower for visibility). Because of the spot it can be glimpsed at an angle depending on the type of skirt she wears. Sometimes fully if she wears shorts of minimal length.
PERSONALITY
Rin Tohsaka is a young woman at odds with herself. As a child she was raised to reflect ideals that contradict her core feelings. She was taught to be prim-and-proper, elegant, self-reliant, cynical, detached, cold and logically rational. However her true self, which comes out in private, is much different. Loud, bossy, shrewd, stingy, and childishly competitive.
This disconnect from how she was raised and her true feelings leaves those around her to feel like they get mixed signals. She puts off a very hot-and-cold attitude. Sometimes oscillating from detached ice queen to reactionary hot-head. On occasion one may come across the "Red Devil" side of her which is more mischievous and playful. At her core, and what she buries deepest, is her inclination to act as a big sister. She's incredibly protective of those she cares about and will overburden herself with responsibility. Though she'll most definitely disguise it as something self-serving.
BACKGROUND
As the most recent inheritor of the Tohsaka name, Rin comes from a long line of notable mages (over 200yrs). As such she's been pressured from a young age to succeed, and on top of that she was born with a rare trait — failure or mediocrity was never an option for her. Growing up she was taught to prioritize magecraft and upholding the family name and ideals over her own personal interests. Calm elegance and propriety were to come before everything. In addition to that, she was separated from her beloved sister because only one child can inherit the tools and teaching of the craft.
At around 7 (or 8) Rin's parents died as a result of the Holy Grail War. Her father killed by another master, and her mother left handicapped both physically and mentally. From then on Rin had to teach herself magecraft while also taking care of her mother. Kirei, a man who had worked with her father and served as his apprentice, became the legal guardian of Rin when her mother passed. Rin blames Kirei for not protecting her father during the war, and also implies that he mismanaged the family's assets.
Ten years after the Holy Grail War, Rin has become a serviceable mage and has learned martial arts from her legal guardian. She aims to participate in the next Holy Grail War, and win for the sake of fulfilling her father's last wish for her. Unbeknownst to her she'd be facing classmates, family, and even more unexpected familiar faces...

Can Rin Sense this: So, I forgot to note this in their thread, but luckily it came up pretty naturally anyways so it's nbd, but! Tezcatlipoca seems to have Presence Concealment at an absurdly high level, but he actually doesn't (at his canonpoint, in Chaldea he does). He doesn't ping as anything but a normal human with maybe some magical ability, but nothing crazy at all. It would likely seem to be less than her own, for example. This is because his body is totally, 100% human! He doesn't really ping as a Servant at all in person, but I'd say in Communion it'd be obvious.
When he changes his Saint Graph from his normiecore self, that's all out the window, though. It'll be super obvious in those cases and will also be like, stupid high as she'd probably expect from a Divine Spirit. And fwiw, when he's in his fursuit, he's a Berserker, and if he ever goes to his third ascension (which is unlikely), he's a Ruler. I just found some stuff the other day that makes me think that he's truly not a Servant in his normiecore get-up, but I'm not 100% sure, so. thanks nasu, i cry

Can Rin Sense this: She can! Fane is an animated skeleton, lmao, though he's animated with the magical power of his own soul (presumably). He's also a quite accomplished magic user, though this isn't abnormal in his world.
Other Notes: I totally forgot about this for the undercover thread, so just to make it easy, I'll say that his magical mask also dulls the innate magic he just kind of always has blaring because it does very physically transform him. He doesn't know this, though! It's also an item that's inert when not in use for transformation.

SCENT PROFILE
Rin's natural scent is impacted by the medicine she takes to suppress her magic crest. It is a mixture of bitter herbs and ground bone. She mentions smelling like an apothecary, which gives her an earthy, herbal, and resinous base note.
Additional Scent: rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, peony, and bergamot
As someone who worries deeply what she smells like, Rin goes through great lengths to smell good. She sews sachets of dried flowers into the seams of her clothes and makes sure to wear perfume every day. Her scent profile tends to be "floral," and "bright." Lavender and chamomile may be a tertiary because she probably uses that to scent her bedding to help her sleep.
Strength of Scent: Noticeable, but not overpowering to a human nose
Because Rin was raised in Japan and strong scents are typically frowned upon, Rin's aroma is probably noticeable and pleasant — but not overtly strong. However for someone with a sensitive nose they probably could pick her out easy in a crowd (unless someone else was worse about drenching themselves in perfume/cologne).
Other: Perfume is not an Oracle Priority
When it comes to Oracle events and other such things where supplies are limited/she cannot return home, the perfume is forgotten. Her clothes still have those sachets of dried flowers sewn into the inner seams, and her perfume will probably stick to her hair, but everywhere else it will fade as the days pass, and her 'natural scent' will become more prominent.
